--A tale of two cities
處於金融業的人,都不會認為這是一個好的時代吧~Bear Stearns 倒了、Lehman 要拆件了(burn funitures to keep warm, haha, 講得好!)、I-banks、 European banks...都錄得大幅虧損了,大家都在創造歷史,剧新成立以來虧損最大的紀錄,下下是天文數字...瘋狂得不真實。
不知何故,每天總是會收到不明來歷的newsletter, 每天update market最新globally的裁員情況。今天這間firm cut 3,000 jobs,明天那間firm cut 5,000 jobs...然後,the standard 的feature article is "how the US subprime turns bankers to bakers and barbers" (即是banker轉行整餅和同人剪髮)...看得多,麻木了,卻還是覺得所有事情荒謬得不可思議。
job market靜得很,臨近年尾,即使通漲高於5%,還是無人夠膽談升職加人工和年尾bonus...大家都安慰自己,at least you have a job!是的,在這時勢,你有的已經比好多人好好多了...
轉念又想,對risk management 來說,這也是一個好好的學習機會吧! 無疑是給大家一個喘息的空間,讓大家都停一停,反思一下,問題的根源在哪裡,怎樣做好一點。可悲的是,learn from this experience, doesn't mean that future is free from risk... history repeats itself...who knows where the other black holes are...
唉,生活難過,幾時才能走出黑暗呢~
