It was the best of times, it was the worst of times...
--A tale of two cities

處於金融業的人，都不會認為這是一個好的時代吧~Bear Stearns 倒了、Lehman 要拆件了(burn funitures to keep warm, haha, 講得好!)、I-banks、 European banks...都錄得大幅虧損了，大家都在創造歷史，剧新成立以來虧損最大的紀錄，下下是天文數字...瘋狂得不真實。

不知何故，每天總是會收到不明來歷的newsletter, 每天update market最新globally的裁員情況。今天這間firm cut 3,000 jobs,明天那間firm cut 5,000 jobs...然後，the standard 的feature article is "how the US subprime turns bankers to bakers and barbers" (即是banker轉行整餅和同人剪髮)...看得多，麻木了，卻還是覺得所有事情荒謬得不可思議。

job market靜得很，臨近年尾，即使通漲高於5%,還是無人夠膽談升職加人工和年尾bonus...大家都安慰自己，at least you have a job!是的，在這時勢，你有的已經比好多人好好多了...

轉念又想，對risk management 來說，這也是一個好好的學習機會吧! 無疑是給大家一個喘息的空間，讓大家都停一停，反思一下，問題的根源在哪裡，怎樣做好一點。可悲的是，learn from this experience, doesn't mean that future is free from risk... history repeats itself...who knows where the other black holes are...

唉，生活難過，幾時才能走出黑暗呢~
